Just Love, Damnit

This post may lose me some followers… so be it. I haven’t ever used my blog to talk politics or religion, one reason being that they are controversial and I like to keep drama to a minimum. However, I can’t bite my tongue any longer. The Chick-fil-A shit I am reading on Facebook makes my blood boil.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. You have the freedoms to think and do what you want. This is America.

First things first, I am agnostic. Bordering more so on an atheist than anything. I wasn’t raised in a religious family, but I had many friends growing up that were and I became interested in religion. I was saved. I was a Christian in high school. I was super involved in Young Life. I’ve changed. I still have friends of all religions and follow many bloggers that talk about faith. It doesn’t bother me just like I hope that my beliefs don’t bother you.

Secondly, I’m a Libertarian. I believe in less government. I once was a registered Republican and I definitely lean that way when it comes to fiscal responsibilities, however, I don’t agree with a lot of the Republican’s social views — you can probably guess which ones.

There… it’s all out on the table. The scary-don’t-talk-about-it views that I have. How you like me now?

So before I start rambling away… Believe in your God. Believe in your “traditional” family values. But what happened to believing in, above all things, love?

Why do people want to go above and beyond to support ANYTHING that keeps people from doing what they want to do? Not allowing homosexuals to marry is pure discrimination — plain and simple.

Someone on Facebook posted: “Put yourself in others’ shoes. How would you feel if someone donated money against something you believe in? If they actively tried to keep you from doing something that everyone else had the right to do… There is a difference between not agreeing with someone’s beliefs and going out of your way to prevent someone from their beliefs.

This blog is about love and babies and food and funny shit. Sorry for getting all serious on you, but this is MY blog and my venting place.

Just love, damnit. (I think this will be my new catchphrase).
